Hellooo Camp Summit!!! The summers of '94 and '97 were chronologically 16 and 13 year but they seem like last month in my memory.  Princess Pat anyone? Reading thru these notes it is glaringly obvious that spending any amount of time at Camp Soroptomist/Summit is a life-changing experience!!  Thank you to the hundreds of campers and staff that touched my heart and changed my life forever! It is an honor to say that i am a part of the history of Camp.  I want to share that special piece of land with my children before it disappears forever.  Thank you Jeff for hiring me and blessing my life.

I was so glad to be able to go back to camp this year & get my entire life back after the rough 2 yrs I had.  I enjoyed getting to meet the brand new staff.  I just love the girls that I had in my cabin as counselors.  They were absolutely fantastic.  There were a few familiar faces but most everyone there was new this year.  I can't wait for next year.  See everyone then.  Please keep in touch.

I've worked at Camp Summit for 1 whole summer and even attended it. I loved everything about it and I loved all the campers more... I meet a lot of great people and I've learned alot of lessons from campers "its not always what they say  or do" There are great memories from summer of '02 with everyone I have never seen so much love from anyone before. I'm glad that I discovered Camp Summit this summer.  I enjoyed all the different experiences and I will never forget it.

I've been working at Camp Summit the past two summers and I've enjoyed it.  I love the activities, dances, cook outs, and most of all the campers.  I've learned so much from the campers and they're the reason why I like camps so much.

Hopefully next summer will be my first time attending Camp Summit, 2003.  I am real excited to come check out the place.  I haven't been to a summer camp since I was 10 years old.  I am 34 years old now and I am looking forward to seeing you all next summer.

I have been at Camp Summit for a very long time. I have really enjoy it and making new friends!!!

I was a camper at camp Summit for many years. I volunteered at the camp for a week about 5 or 6 years ago. Camp summit is a wonderful place. I am about to graduate from collage with a teaching assistant certification at the end of April. I am going to be working in a special education classroom.

I have great memories of the summer I've spent at Camp Summit as a counselor back in ‘94. Glad the camp is up and running. Wish all the staff and campers best of luck!

I have been attending Camp Summit since the summer of1999. I love my time @ camp because it gives me the chance for some freedom away from my parents & everything. I really like the staff from Lisa the director down to the counselors including the nurses. Everyone is just very friendly & sweet there. I look forward to coming @ the end of June this year for my age group.

CampSummit Has The Greatest Staff Ever!  I have been a camper at Camp Summit For 3 years.  I have never in my life seen so many people that truly care about the campers that they take care of during the weeks that they spend at camp.

CampSummit is a great place. With all the love and friendly people at you can't help to keep coming back.  Camp Summit was my Favorite camp to attend as a camper. I went to other camps but there is only one Camp Summit. Camp Summit was my first Job. I had a blast my first summer and now they can't get rid of me.

Camp Summit is the best place on earth!  I worked as a counselor for the first time this past summer, and just had to come back to volunteer in October and it was the best thing I could have ever done with my time.  My life has changed because of all the wonderful campers who all touched my life greatly. (and counselors like Christa!)  I am thankful for the great opportunity to offer my service, but actually gain so much more in return.  Camp Summit is truly my favorite place on earth!  I can't wait till Summer '03! CampSummit changed my life!! It all started with a weekend session in OCT 97. I volunteered for the weekend for credit towards a college class, and I have not been the same since! I worked summer 98 (KIOWA), as well as individual weeks in99, 01, and 02. Even though I have a full time job now, I just cant get away from the joy of Camp Summit. I cant wait for summer 2003 to get here! I see my time at camp as a vacation away from my regular routine, and an awesome time with awesome people!

this summer (03) was the best summer of my life. I worked as a counselor for choctaw (the only cabin to be in). I had the time of my life and the things that I learned from all of my friends (the campers and my fellow counselors) is something that I could never forget. Everyone at camp was so good to me and they will all be seing alot more of me, and I can't wait to come back in the summer of 04. CAMP SUMMIT ROCKED IN 03! WEEEEE READY! CHOCTAW'S ON THE WAR PATH!

I had an absolute blast this past June @ camp. I really loved my week there. There were several people there this year that made the week really enjoyable for me. There was one in particular counselor who shall remain nameless that I had a blast meeting & I'm fortunate enough that we still keep in touch via email after camp. I'm excited that for the 2nd time since I started attending Camp Summit in 1999 that I will be able to attend the weekend session @ the end of this month. I haven't been able to attend since the first year ---- 1999.

I volunteerd at camp summit in the Nov.14-17 2003. I did it for school. But in the end the campers thought me more that i will ever learn is school. I hope to be comming back to camp as soon as i can.I just want to tell all of my campers that i love you all so much and i hope to see you real soon. Hey what's up?? I worked at Camp Summit in the summer of 2003. I was in Choctaw cabin. Camp Summit has an unbelievable full time staff working for them. Brad and Lisa have great hearts. That's one good reason the camp is so successful. I can't begin to explain my emotions or feelings when I think of the kind of person I am this day because of Camp Summit. It inspires you to believe in so much because of some great people. I loved every minute of it and am looking forward to another great summer in 2004.

I worked this past summer(03) and I loved it! Before I went I was a shy and quite but when I got there I really opened up, I just would like to thank Shawnee cabin and every one else at camp I love you all! But I really would like to thank Krysta and my mom they really pushed me into going and I am so glad they did! I can't wait to come back this next summer.

If I could revisit one time in my life, it would have to be when I was a counselor at camp summit the summer of 2001. I think about that summer and how it changed my life. Going into camp that summer I only had two pairs of shorts a couple of cut off t-shirts and one pair of boots. My car was overheating so very bad that I barely made it to the camp. It was a quite desperate time for me to find some meaning to my life. oops, cant finish I got to go. will continue later.

I went to the YAPC week June 20 - June 26.  I enjoyed myself.  I enjoyed getting to see several people that returned from last summer.  I loved my counselors.  I've known 2 of them for about 10 yrs because we attended church together.  It was wonderful to get to see them after all these years.  Three of them I had as counselors last year.  There was only new girl that I didn't know.  I had an absolute blast with them.  They made the week very enjoyable for me especially when I was upset about something on Wednesday nite.  The activities were loads of fun.  I just wish that it hadn't rained the 2 times that we were supposed to go swimming.

I had the best week of my life @ Camp Summit June 20-26 '04 (PC Week)...Y'all made it possible 'cause of what you had done for Erica & I. That is a week I'll never forget...And Friday Night was awesome! Thanx y'all for such a great week. :o) I love you all.

My daughter Shelby came to camp summit for the first time last week. As a mom i saw such a change when i picked her up. She had more self confidence, and many great memories. I would recommend this camp, and have to any parent that has a child with a delay. The staff, SHAWNEE CABIN was so great. I still am amazed at the fact that these teens do this on their summer break!

How's it going? Camp really was an awesome experience. I believe that this place made as much of an impact on me as it has on some campers. I would just like to thank Lisa and Brad for giving me the chance to work with some awesome people (counselors and campers). I am going to remember all the great times I had with Tejas cabin mainly. They were great. But always remember the HO's (Arapaho Cabin) is always the BEST. I love you all and if I don't make it out next summer then I will miss a whole lot of you.

This summer 04 was a great experience for my son. When I picked him up from camp he was so happy and had so much confidence in himself. I am so proud of him and I want to thank everyone that helped my son believe in himself. My son has made friends that he will never forget. This camp holds a very special place in our hearts and we cant wait to see all of you guys again next year.

I went to Camp Summit on October 15 for the weekend session and I had a great time!!!!!!!!!!!  This was my first time every volunteering at Camp Summit and I will tell you this, it will NOT be my last time.  I really enjoyed everyone at Camp and I really enjoyed the kids.  They put a smile on my face and I will never forget them.  So see you next year in 2005!!!!!!!!  I can't wait.

It was the summer of 1998-1999 that I was a volunteer as a counselor and it was just for extra credit in college so I really didnt think it was going to be a big deal. I have to say it was one of the best experiences I have ever had and that I will always remember. The campers make you see things in a different way and make you feel so lucky to have known them for such a short time..there smiles and such big hearts keep you wanting to come back.
Its been along time since I have been back but I will never forget the memories and the pictures that I have and anyone I meet I tell them about what a great thing Camp Summit is and if you ever get the time its something everyone should experience..it makes you see just what you take for granted in your life and makes you do some serious soul searching. Wayyyy back in 1978 I was fortunate enough to be a counselor at Camp Soroptimist (Summit) in Zuni cabin with "Twinkle". I was 18 and now 27 years later, the memories came sweeping back as I happened upon this website. I remember Freddy! and so many other campers who had a permanent, positive life changing impact on me, along with the exceptional staff! I pray that God continues to bless this camp and all who are apart of it.

A lot of time has passed since the summers of 93-96 when I worked there. I met so many incredible campers and fellow counselors during those four years (including by amazing wife, Tina). I just got back from Camp Summit! I went for the Adult Spina Bifida retreat. It was amazing. The weather was good. I hear that's a change! The campers were amazing. I hope to go again next year. I LOVE CAMP SUMMIT! This fall ( fall of 05) was my first Spina Bifida adult retreat. It was so so so awesome! I worked at Camp Summit from 1979-1981 as a camp counselor and unit leader when it was known as Camp Soroptimist. It was fun and fulling to meet so many wonderful campers and their families. As a college student it helped me develop a more sensitive attitude towards others and prepared me as a teacher for the early phases of inclusion for special needs students in public schools. For the first time I attended the Adult Physically Challenged week June 5-11, 2005 for people ages 30 & older. I had an absolute blast there this year especially meeting all of the new counselors that were there this year. I definitely enjoyed being in Cheyenne cabin. I want especially thank Sarah & Libby who were in Cheyenne as counselors for their help when I hurt my back. There were several male counselors there that I also enjoyed meeting. They made the week extremely enjoyable for me.

I have worked at camp for 3 summers 2003 Kiowa 2004 and 2005 Cheyenne they have been the best summers ever. I can't wait until next summer.

Judy started attending in 1974 when she was a little-bitty ten-year-old. I could almost not leave my "baby" but when I went to pick her up she had latched on to counselor Brian and did not want to come home. She loves camp and never misses a session. When she is at home, she looks every day at the scrapbook we made with all her camp journals and pictures. The staff there has got to be the finest group of young people in the world! Thanks to all of you for enriching my daughter's life.

My weekend at Camp Summit was one of the greatest highlights of my life. It was an enllightening experience on so many different levels. Dizzy Dick, Ms. Demeanor, Boucing Beth (aka: Jody Foster), Carolyn & Totally Terry are most awesome. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone!

I was a counselor at Camp Soroptimist in 1983. I have great memories from there, memories that will last a lifetime. I highly recommend working there if anyone is thinking about it. You will learn a lot about yourself and the campers.

I have 2 homes. One is in Dallas, and the other is in Argyle (and soon to be Sunset). Camp Summit is my 2nd home and I know I am always welcome. I love being around these campers, because the raise me up to more than I can be. I have no worries when Im at Camp, because I know Ive been blessed with an incredible opportunity. Hello to everyone!! I just wanted to say that I did miss Camp Summitt a lot this past summer and thought about everyone there. Camp Summitt is one of the most amazing places I've ever seen and I learned more that summer than I possibly ever will. The campers and staff taught me so much and I was really blessed by the opportunity to spend the summer with them. I think about all the memories often and they will always be close to my heart!! I hope to come back and visit sometime! Miss you!

i just wanted to say that my time as a councellor at camp summit changed my life forever, when i first arrived i had no idea i would meet some of the most pleasent and brave people in the world. my time there made me want to do something with my life and i am now going to wales to do a degree in sport and exercise science. lisa was a sweetheart and took care of me while i was there and i am dying to go back to meet up with the countless amount of buddies i met while working. I attended camp this summer from June 4-10th.  This was one of the best years that I've had since I started attending in 1999.  There were several people there that made the week totally awesome for me.  I'd like to THANK Savanah (Sports/Games) for helping me w/ some exercises I wanted to do.  I'd also like to THANK Scott (Ropes) for making ropes really enjoyable this year.  I'd like to THANK him for making the dance a very enjoyable & memorable night for me.  Scott, you'll never know what it meant to me. 

Wow....it's actually been a couple of yrs since i attended Camp Summit but it was a blast i attended for about 3 or 4 yrs i couldn't wait for summer to start so i could swim in the pool, ride "Midnight" and play with "Animal" she was awesome i own alot of my rehabilitaion to Camp Summit and everyone working there including Lisa which io always gave a hard time...attending this camp made me feel "normal" finally being able to do everything with everyone as opposied to having to side the sidelines b/c i could not pass the physical...my epilepsy vastly improved as a matter of fact this yr i graduate high school and soon after ship to Marine Boot Camp in Califorinia i feel i owe my life to these people.... but the best i can do is say "Thank You" and u have no idea how u have changed my life.

As I prepare a summer camp for the children in my little village, you guys at camp summit are in my thoughts daily. I don't think I would have the strength to get through some of the tough days in Peace Corps without the wonderful learning experiences I had while working at your Camp. The staff and campers there really are the salt of the earth.

Hi Camp Summit. Just found the guestbook and saw Matt (Choktah Cabin counselor) Hi Matt, its me,Amanda, Ricky's Smith's big sister, met you sibliing weekend March 07.  Ricky and I were first timers. He was in your cabin.  Thanks for letting me join in on my brother's actities with your cabin.  I had the best time at Camp Summit and met a lot of people. Liza Brazil encouraged me to come back as a volunteer when I turn 13.  I will be 11 this fall.  Hello to camper Cory also.  CAMP SUMMIT IS THE KOOLIEST!

S1 Hello to everyone @ camp.  I'm sorry that I was there this year.  But don't fret I do plan on being back & better next year.  I missed seeing everyone's smiling & friendly faces.  This has been an extra long summer for me since I wasn't able to get my dose of fun @ camp.  Once again I can't wait to get back in gear next year.  So look out everyone I'll be even fiestier next.

Camp Soroptimist was without a doubt the single biggest influence on my life. I was a counselor from '81 to '84 and secretary in '85. Scott was the pool guy and we got married at Camp in '85. He is now an OT and I am a director for a special ed. co-op. We have 2 boys, Brandon is 14 and Carter is 12. Lots of good times at camp and some sad ones too. It is terrific to see the pictures and I hope to see some of the Acorn people at the anniversary.

Camp Soroptimist/Summit will always hold a special place in my heart, not only because it was where I experienced my first taste of "freedom" for a summer as a teenager, or because it's where I met my husband of 10 years, but also because of the wonderful and unique campers I encountered there and the tremendous experiences offered to make them feel as independent as possible.  Camp left an imprint on my heart and I intend to pass that along to my own children as they grow older.

Please pass along a sincere hello to any staffers from the summer of '91 and volunteers for some time after.

I was Camp Counselor in '85, Unit Leader from '86 - '88 (all in Sioux Cabin, by the way!) and Program Director with Jase Waller in '89. Camp Soroptomist was the single biggest learning curve in all my "growing up" years. It's been awhile (86-whenever) but I still look back with many fond memories.  I grew a lot during the time I was at camp and made many great friendships (even if I don't keep in touch).  I am now a father of four and about to be a first time grandfather.  I have a daughter who is 15 now that I am thinking about sending to camp.  She is a doll and I know she would have a great time.  It was nice to find this message board and see that so many people are still positively influenced by this great place.  If anyone wants to drop me a line send it to chipjc@msn.com.

Thank you all for the wonderful memories you have given my aunt.  She looked forward to going to camp every year.  She started going to camp around age 9 and continued every year until she passed from this life to start her new life free of disabilities on August 29, 2008 at 53 years young; just 3 short weeks after she returned from camp.  We have truly been blessed to have her in our lives, and she was blessed to have all of you.

My father (David Evans) managed Camp Soroptimist in the mid-70s and met my mother (Frances) there in 1973.  My parents were married in the lodge in April of 1974.  My parents were ‘matched’ by their mutual friend Lori Batchelor, as my mother was finishing college at the University of Oklahoma.  My father’s father built the cross that was long located in the lodge for my parents’ wedding in ’74.  My older brother (Erik) came home to Camp Soroptimist in October of ’75 where the family lived until ’77, when they moved to Omaha, NE where my sister (Kyra) was born in ’78 and I was born in ’79.

Others at the camp at the same time included Gary Staats and Bruce France.  If not for Camp Soroptimist and its campers, my family wouldn’t exist!  I would love to hear stories about my family from their days at the camp.

I am probably the oldest person to share my comments, having worked at Camp Soroptimist from 1964 through 1968 and again in the summer of 1970.  I was program director for most of those years but started off as a junior counselor in the Arapaho cabin.  I would love to hear from any of the persons who worked there during those years.  Camp was some of the best times I have had in my whole entire life.  Camp benefits not only the individuals that attend as campers but makes a significant contribution to the workers as well.  My email is eddiebaggett@embarqmail.com.  Please write if you remember me.

Our daughter Brittany has attended Camp summit on various occasions and came away with nothing but great memories and experience.  This time however, it was our son Max’s experience by doing an Eagle Scout Project rebuilding flood damaged bridges that has impacted family’s on going appreciation and respect for what Camp Summit means to so many.  Max not only completed his Eagle rank, but his project earned him the top award for Eagle projects in the district out of 149 scouts.  He has a tremendous amount of pride and sense of accomplishment surrounding his work at Camp Summit.  THANK YOU for helping him find such a worthy cause.

I started coming to Camp Summit (Camp Soroptimist) when I was 7 years old.  I am 60 years old now.  For me Camp was a very place for me in many ways.  It seems I could just be myself at camp because we (campers) were a like and that made me feel so good about myself and Camp Summit is a place where I fit in.  When I was coming to camp, there were many camp managers of the camp but in the year of 1972 is when Camp Summit got the most wonderful camp manager they ever had.  Dave Eavn is his name.  At first I thought he was too young to be the manager of the camp but Dave proved me wrong.  I was AMAZED how Dave got involved with the campers.  We all loved him.  Oh, what fun we had with him and Dave listen to us campers more then the other managers ever had when I was coming out to Camp Summit (Camp Soroptimist).  One of my dreams was to work at camp and Dave Eavn gave me a job.  Worked from 1973-75.  Camp Summit was a big part of my life.  I will never forget some of the neatest people I met there.  The camp will always have a very special place in my heart as long as I live.

I was a CIT in 1967 at what was Camp Soroptimist, now Camp Summit.  I worked two more summers at the camp before venturing down my own path.  The summers I worked at the camp have given me life long lessons to this day that I still use.  I still talk about my experiences with the campers and how awesome each one was to me.  I would like to know if or when there is ever a reunion of counselors from the old days... This was my first year at Summit YTPC and I loved it.  The nurses and counselors are so helpful and kind.  I like all the activities especially the Ropes Course.  I was so glad that the theme was Disney because I loved all the night activities.  I hope to come back next year.

I first went to Camp Soroptimist in the early 1960s as a camper.  I had Polio in my left leg.  The many friends that I made lasted many years.  I have come upon many familiar names in this site such as Eddie Bagget, Cheryl Smith and others.  I was a camper for three years and then worked as the caretakers assistant (Caretaker - Mr. McClintock and a big guy named "Sarge".  I then became a counselor in the Arapaho and Cherokee cabins till 1969 or 1970.  I then had to go get a year round job because I was out of High School, but in that time I was at camp before I had to do that I met the love of my life (at that time) named Karen.  She was the dining hall manager and brought so much light and love to my life.  But after high school, just like camp, we had to go our separate ways, but all the summers I spent at camp, knowing Mr. & Mrs. Hill, and meeting all the campers and counselors and staff that became my friends, enriched me in so many ways I cannot even comprehend.
