A message from the Campaign Chair

Greetings to all! There is no doubt that 2006 was the most exciting year to date of Camp Summit’s “A Peak at the Future” Capital Campaign! We have successfully raised over half of our $4.5 million goal - to relocate camp to Sunset, TX in 2010. This success would not have been possible without the generous challenge gift from the family of two former campers who pledged $500,000 when we raise another $500,000 from individual donations by December 2006.

Supporters of Camp Summit rose to the challenge launching the ‘Meet the Challenge’ Campaign - a grassroots volunteer effort comprised of over 700 volunteers and donors who heard our call to action and responded accordingly. The incredible generosity of those who have answered the call for donations warms our hearts and feeds our spirits as we forge ahead.

We are so appreciative of the $2.4 million raised to-date toward our $4.5 million goal allowing us to "open" the doors and operate our camp program at the new site in Sunset, Texas. But our work is not over! We have a long way to go to build and open our new campgrounds.

We are currently seeking another generous donor willing to match $1 million when we raise another $1 million in donations. The success of the Campaign is essential for the individuals we serve who may have no other camp they can attend due to the level of care required by their specific challenges. Camp Summit’s new camp location will give thousands of children and adults with disabilities a place to continue to discover new strengths and gain friends for life.

Keep us in mind: Capital Campaign support for Camp Summit will ensure campers that they will have a safe and quality camp experience for many years to come. Unlike requests for annual support or special event, this campaign provides our donors with an opportunity to leave a permanent legacy in honor of the campers we serve.
