Organization Overview:

Camp Summit is a one-of-a-kind camp for individuals with disabilities where the emphasis is on each campers' abilities rather than their disabilities. Traditional camp activities are adapted to each individual, provided in our barrier-free facilities, and implemented by trained, caring staff. Our campers are grouped by age, providing the opportunity to make friends within peer groups while having fun and experiencing new adventures.

 

We are seeking a passionate and experienced professional to join our team as the Director of Development. The Director of Development will play a pivotal role in creating and implementing strategies to secure funding, cultivate relationships with donors, and elevate the overall visibility and impact of our organization.

 

Camp Summit’s administrative offices are in Dallas, Texas. Our camp is in Paradise, Texas, just north of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex on 460 acres of land. We are accredited by the American Camp Association and licensed as a Youth Camp in the State of Texas.

 

Responsibilities:
 

Fundraising Strategy:

  • Lead and execute a comprehensive, multi-faceted fundraising strategy (with a goal of $1.5 MM for 2024) aligned with the camp's mission and goals.

  • Oversee the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of diverse funding sources, including grants, individual donors, corporate partnerships, and special events.

  • Lead and support the CEO and the Board of Directors in their activities related to fundraising.

  • Serve as a member of the executive team.

 

Team Management:

Manage the Development Department, currently comprised of three full-time positions:

  • Events Manager

  • Grants Manager

  • Development Operations Manager 

  • Manage the Development Committee of the Board.

  • Oversee Development Department annual targets and measures, including financial, operational, donor relations, and people. 

Personal Portfolio Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with a personal portfolio of existing donors, ensuring ongoing engagement and support, with a focus on corporate sponsorship and partnership.

  • Research and identify prospective corporate major partners, tailoring strategies to meet their philanthropic interests.

  • Develop and implement donor stewardship programs to recognize and appreciate contributions.
     

Event Planning:

Support the planning, organizing, and execution of fundraising events.

 

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with marketing and communication teams to promote events and enhance the camp's public profile.

  • Work closely with the executive team, board members, and program staff to understand the camp's needs and priorities.

  •  Effectively communicate the camp's mission, impact, and funding needs to various stakeholders.
     

Budget Oversight:

  • Collaborate with the finance department to develop and manage the development income and expense budget.

  • Ensure responsible and strategic use of resources to maximize the impact of fundraising efforts."
     

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; master’s degree preferred.

  • Proven experience in fundraising, donor relations, and grant writing, with a proven track record in the corporate philanthropy/corporate social responsibility market in the DFW metroplex.

  • Familiarity with the challenges and opportunities in the disability services sector.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently with minimal supervision.

  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
